A day in the life of a VA
Working as a #VirtualAssistant requires discipline, determination and self-motivation. It can be a lonely job, especially if you are working from home all of the time, but for me personally, I actually enjoy this side of the role, no traffic jams and no struggle to get a parking space!
So, what does my typical day entail?
07.00 – 08.00am
Get up, eat breakfast, shower, get dressed in my comfy work clothes and off to my home office.
08.00 – 09.00am
Log on to the laptop, check for any emails, check ELT social media accounts, daily Zoom call with client no. 2 to go through requirements for the day. Say goodbye to my son as he goes off to work for the day.
09.00 – 10.00am
Daily phone call with client no. 1 to go through requirements for the day, start to work through the day’s tasks for clients 1 and 2.
10.00 – 11.00am
Quick coffee break, then continue working through client tasks, including work for client no. 3.
11.00 – 12.00 noon
Deal with the emails, voicemails, texts and Whatsapp messages all received at the same time, all requesting urgent tasks!
12.00 – 1.00pm
Review social media plan for ELT, update where necessary and add content to social media sites.
1.00 – 2.00pm
Lunch time – a chance to switch off from work and see what my friends and family are up to i.e. be nosey on social media!
2.00 – 3.00pm
Networking – build relationships with potential new and existing clients on our social media sites.
3.00 – 4.00pm
Review of analytics to see how well our brand is doing and what improvements we can make to our website and social media sites. Check to ensure all client tasks have been completed or continue working on those outstanding.
4.00 – 5.00pm
Feedback to clients 1, 2 and 3 regarding the days tasks. Plan ahead for tomorrow to do it all again!
5.00 – 10.00pm
Log off from the laptop, cook evening meal, clean and tidy the house, relax watching TV, currently reliving my youth watching episodes of Quantum Leap and off to bed for good nights sleep, hopefully!
Some days run smoothly, some don’t and I could end up spending more time than planned working on my clients tasks, with constant interruptions but that’s what makes this role great, you can adjust your schedule to suit.
A VA role might not suit everyone as there are constant changes and you may have to react instantly to your clients needs but on the other hand, knowing that I am valued by my clients for my services and expertise makes it a rewarding and fulfilling job.
